A Company Rooted in Family Values & the Local Community
Over 35 years ago, our family set out on a journey to create a better life for future generations. Five members of that family became the foundation of Johnson Pool & Spa, a business that has survived through thick and thin. What began as a home-based pool construction company has grown to encompass many aspects of its industry, with over 85 employees, 1,400 service customers, 25 service routes, and more than 600 custom pools designed and built (and counting), along with a comprehensive retail location in Windsor, California, and a service headquarters in Santa Rosa, California.
Johnson Pool & Spa began as a home-based pool construction and renovation company in Healdsburg, California. The company was co-founded by Lupe and Barbara Perezchica, their daughter Tina, and her husband, Stan Johnson. Lupe and Barbara’s son, Matt Perezchica, was the first employee of the business. With 16 years of pool construction experience at the time, Lupe brought a deep understanding of what it took to build a quality, long-lasting pool. Stan handled sales, Lupe and Matt built the pools, and Barbara and Tina managed the books—establishing a hands-on, family-driven foundation that still defines the company today.
In 1993, the Service and Repair Department was established, and over the next several years, it grew from a handful of pool maintenance accounts to more than 1,400 clients and 25 service routes throughout Sonoma County. Expanding into Service and Repair was a natural progression—another way to provide excellence to clients long after their pools were built. When asked about their client base, Matt put it best: “Our job is to make their lives more enjoyable, and for over 35 years, that is what we are most proud of.”
The company eventually outgrew its home base and relocated to Windsor, California, where it opened its first retail store—an 800-square-foot space in the Raley’s Shopping Center. This location served them well until 2005, when it moved into its current showroom at 9650 Old Redwood Highway in Windsor. In 2016, the company expanded further with the purchase of Sunshine Pools in Santa Rosa, California, which became a second showroom location.
With an eye on the future, the company recently pivoted the Santa Rosa location into its Service headquarters, consolidating all showroom operations in Windsor. This move allowed for expansion of the Service Department and increased warehouse and office capacity, while maintaining a strong focus on delivering top-notch customer service and supporting future growth.
As the area’s award-winning authorized Jacuzzi® Brand Dealer, the Windsor store showcases a wide range of Jacuzzi® wellness products, including hot tubs, swim spas, cold plunges, saunas, and massage chairs. The store also features a curated selection of pool chemicals and supplies, Covana automated spa covers, patio furniture collections by Sunset West, and more. In addition, the Windsor location serves as the design center for the company’s pool construction and renovation division, as well as its administrative offices.
Through the years, the family and business have remained closely connected, with Lupe and Barbara’s grandsons, Aaron and Alex Johnson, taking over the company in 2024. Johnson Pool & Spa continues to be known for its value, integrity, and quality—thanks to a dedicated staff and crew committed to making Sonoma County the best place to live outdoors. This commitment is further reflected in the company’s ongoing support of local non-profits and community organizations working to make the place we all call home the best it can be. —
